Chairman of Moroccan Chamber of Commerce and Industry:

Morocco could be Alba's gateway to markets in Europe and Africa

Moroccan Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Moroccan Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, Dr. Shafiq Rashadi, said that Morocco could become the Alba gateway to the European and African markets. Furthermore, he said, Alba's raw materials can also be imported from Morocco .

"The Kingdom of Morocco considers aluminium as a major material in the construction of many projects," said Dr. Rashadi. "This makes aluminium critically important for the construction industry – and, we believe, Alba is capable of meeting the needs of the Moroccan market," he said.

Dr. Rashadi made his comments following a visit to the Alba plant.

The Alba visit, was arranged as part of the Moroccan delegation's visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain to enhance diplomatic and political relations between the two countries by further developing commercial cooperation and discussing possibilities for boosting communication to support the national economy for the two countries through its commercial and industrial sectors.

The Moroccan delegation, which consisted of the Chamber Chairman, accompanied by officials from Foreign Affairs Ministry, Parliament, and Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Services, expressed their wishes to cooperate with Alba, as one of the largest modern smelters in the world, especially that the industrial sector in the Moroccan market has diverse industries that can provide the important material required for the aluminium industry. Also, Morocco can open the gates for Alba to import to European and African markets with the least cost.

Alba Chief Executive, Ahmed Saleh Al Noaimi thanked the Chairman and members of the Moroccan delegation for their visit.

"I invite all officials and businessmen of the industrial and commercial sectors in Morocco to have more cooperation towards the interest of both countries on many levels, especially that Alba today is one of the main suppliers in the international aluminium market," said Al Noaimi.

" Bahrain has long and well-established relationships with Morocco over the years, which could be enhanced even more through their commercial and industrial cooperation through Alba, as the one the main contributors to the Bahraini national economy, and commercial and industrial in the Moroccan market," he said.
